I removed the retainer clip and plunger (the plunger would get stuck down after I hit it) and it was very greasy - dirty black grease. I purchased a factory re-conditioned nailer and I haven't been able to drive in a single nail with it. At first I thought maybe I purchased the wrong nails, but I've researched that and am using the correct nails. As for the factory re-conditioning. Thanks to a previous reviews. I would love to get a replacement one that works, or get my money refunded, if I manager to get the floor hand-nailed this weekend.
A little frustrating for a newbie DIY like me. I took the past two days off work to install my floor and am manually drilling holes and using finishing nails because I can't drive in the nails with my Bostitch MFN-200. Anyway, when I can find the customer service number, I'll contact Amazon first, but I do understand there is a one-year limited warranty. The floor looks great, but I'm so disappointed in the nailer. I figured if I was successful installing this hardwood floor, I'd do the floors at my boyfriend's camp. Not with this nail-gun. to not know any better if I'm doing it right, or it's the tool.
I think it's the tool.
When I opened the box, I thought it was new (not reconditioned). Worked just as well as new.
I've been happy overall with those tools so I figured I couldn't go wrong with this basic, simple, man-powered tool. of white oak flooring) before the EXACT SAME PART broke on that tool--about two rows from the finish line. First of all, mad props to Tool King, who totally handled the return of this tool quickly and professionally--you guys rock.OK, now to the tool. There's a thin piece of metal that the entire tool relies on to work--and that piece of metal snapped right in two with very little use. It's gonna cost them a LOT more in the long run--in returned tools & warranty repairs--not to mention lost sales from disgruntled buyers. I mean, this technology is about is old as it gets: only one moving part in the entire tool and you bang it with a hammer to set the nail. The part costs $5, but I didn't have the time or inclination to let me job grind to a halt while I went down there and had those guys order the part, etc.--so I went straight to Home Depot, rented the EXACT same tool, sent mine back to Tool King--and ALMOST finished my job (installing 1400 s.f.
Because to save.10 on the manufacture of this tool they cost me a lot of time--and themselves the sale of a tool. I own several Bostich pneumatic power tools (roof nailer, frame nailer, trim nailer) which I bought partly for the reputation and partly for the 7 year warranty. So, $85 in tool rental costs and two trips to Home Depot later, my job was done the Bostich floor nailer was on its way back to Tool King. You know, I wish the propellerheads at Bostich would read these review and take them to heart. I mean, COME ON--how do screw that up as a tool maker.I'll tell you how--by using cheap, low-quality steel for the firing pin--which broke within two days of buying the tool. Of course, the tool was under warranty--but the closest service center was in DEERPARK, TX--30-40 miles from downtown Houston--one of the largest cities in the country. If we can put a man on the moon Bostich should be able to make a f*@%#ing manual floor nailer that doesn't break so easily. Get a clue, Bostich.
I was thoruoghly impressed with this tool. If I was more careful putting the tool down this would not have happened. ft.
I have installed about 200 sq. The tool was easy to use and very sturdy.I did read reviews where there were issues with the nails not seating all the way, I did not have a big problem with this.I would recommend getting the nail punch as well as there were cases of the nail not seating properly. being re-conditioned it was like new and you can't beat the price.
of 3/4" x 4 1/4" Cherry. ft. of 3/4" x 3 1/4" oak flooring and about 250 sq.
But 90% of the time it was fine.I did have to sand down the plastic protecting pad once or twice as it nicked. I have a lot more flooring to put down and look forward to doing so.
I have done about 800 sq.ft. of prefinish flooring with this tool. It's well balanced and dependable.
